Meet your PCL STEM tutors

PCL STEM Study Center Tutors are successful University of Texas at Austin students in the College of Natural Sciences who can help you!

Please feel free to drop in for tutoring with any questions that you may have.  Our tutors can help you to prepare for your classes, assist with your homework assignments, and offer so much more.

They are available to answer questions about their experiences with UT STEM coursework, what to do during midterms and finals, and can provide resources to point you in the right direction towards successfully onboarding to your new college life.

Sam Barton

Know the professor's syllabus inside out so that you're aware of any drops/upcoming quizzes.

Headshot of Aman

Aman is a Junior Biochemistry major.

Advice from Aman:

Enjoy and embrace the grind. Put in the work and reap the rewards at the end!

Headshot of Ritika

Ritika Nagalamadaka

Ritika is a Junior Neuroscience major.

Advice from Ritika:

Of course it’s important to study, join organizations, and volunteer/work, but don’t forget to relax too! Dedicate some ‘me’ time to destress and unwind by doing a certain hobby, exercise (a simple walk around campus is enough!), or catch up on that new big show! Being able to balance your time is crucial to not only your grades, but also your health.

Headshot of Raiyyan Siddiqui

Raiyyan Siddiqui

Raiyyan is a Sophomore Neuroscience major.

Advice from Raiyyan:

Have a weekly schedule for each of your classes. This schedule should include a precursory glance at material (skimming a textbook chapter for key vocab/looking at learning outcomes), attending lecture (or viewing a prerecorded lecture/doing assigned reading), and then doing practice problems or flashcards of some kind depending on the class. Taking a methodical approach to learning content that has you pass over the material multiple times makes it such that you've already done most of the work when it is time to begin studying for an exam.

Headshot of Liany Serrano Oviedo

Asha Ayyar

Asha is a Junior Biochemistry major, pursuing pre-med.

Advice from Asha:

Take advantage of resources such as office hours and tutoring! Don't let your fear of asking dumb questions stop you from learning.

  1. Be sure to mute your mic whenever you are not speaking.
  2. Consider muting your video if you are completing a non-Zoom related task.
  3. Close unneeded applications on your computer to keep the video optimally functioning.
  4. You might want to use a headset with an external mic for best hearing and speaking capabilities.
  5. When you are speaking, let others know that you are finished.
  6. If you want to speak, use the “raise hand” feature that is available at the bottom center of your screen.
  7. You can ask questions using the “Chat” feature on the bottom and center of your screen.
  8. Be mindful of your background lighting.
  9. Be sure that there is nothing visually distracting.
  10. Remember to sign out or “leave the meeting” when the session is finished.
