A large percentage of scholarships available to students in the College of Natural Sciences are distributed through the departments in which the majors are housed. Please use the following links or contact departmental advising offices for more information.

Astronomy

  • Awards for Travel and Research Support - Travel to conferences and observatories, funded by Cox UG Excellence funds and the Hugh Gragg Undergraduate Research Travel Award
  • Walton Funds for Undergraduate research at McDonald Observatory - Support travel and lodging for undergraduates carrying research at McDonald Observatory
  • Astronomy Freshman Prizes for Excellence - Astronomy Freshman Prizes for Excellence are competitive merit-based scholarships awarded to some of the freshmen with outstanding promise admitted to the first year of the UT Astronomy program.
  • Karl G. Henize Endowed scholarship - Awarded to an astronomy major in the 2nd year or beyond for excellent academic performance.
  • Board of Visitors Scholarship - Awarded to an astronomy major entering their last year at UT for excellent overall performance.
  • Outstanding Senior Award - Awarded to a senior graduating in astronomy for outstanding overall performance (grades, research, and service).

Human Ecology

  • Gordon Clark Bennett Scholarship in Human Ecology - Students majoring in the Department of Human Ecology; awarded on basis of financial need and scholastic ability.
  • C.J. Davidson Scholarship - Eligibility: Preference given to female sophomore students majoring in the Department of Human Ecology. Based on character, leadership, personality, demonstrated financial need and scholastic performance. Scholarships are renewable.
  • Mary E. Gearing Scholarship - Students majoring in the Department of Human Ecology; awarded on basis of financial need and scholastic ability.
  • Mary E. Gearing Student Chapter Scholarship - Junior or senior student majoring in the Department of Human Ecology with at least 30 hours completed at U.T.-Austin; minimum GPA of 2.5.
  • Jack S. Gray, Jr. Endowed Presidential Scholarship - Undergraduate students in Human Development and Family Sciences, especially those with a focus working with children in the Priscilla Pond Flawn Child and Family Laboratory.
  • Louise Shelley Hewlett Brame Scholarship in Human Ecology - Senior student in the Department of Human Ecology.
  • The Carolyn Frost Keenan Endowed Scholarship in Human Ecology (Child Development) - Senior students in Human Development and Family Sciences
  • Martha Ann Goss McGonigle Scholarship in Child Development - Undergraduate students who are US citizens or permanent residents majoring in Human Development and Family Sciences, with a preference for students who are Texas residents with a demonstrated financial need.
  • Amanda Stoltzfus Scholarship from the Mary E. Gearing Estate - Student majoring in the Department of Human Ecology; awarded on basis of financial need and scholastic ability.
  • Margaret Dunlap Thompson Endowed Presidential Scholarship in Human Ecology - Student majoring in the Department of Human Ecology; awarded on basis of financial need and scholastic ability.
  • Sonia Wolf Wilson Endowed Scholarship - Undergraduate students in the College of Natural Sciences, with a preference for students in the Department of Human Ecology and who are citizens or permanent residents of the United States.
