Dean's Scholars, Health Science Scholars and Polymathic Scholars represent some of the most well-rounded and plain interesting students at the University of Texas. We asked three of them – seniors Mia Ramirez of Polymathic, Wyatt Reeves of Dean's, and Milan Stokes of HSS – to look back on their undergraduate years and tell us how they have changed during their time here.

Dear alumni and families:
Many years ago, Dean's Scholars admitted no more than 25 students per year. Today, DS and our younger honors programs in the College of Natural Sciences, Health Science Scholars and Polymathic Scholars, together admit up to 150 students annually. And yet it's never been more of an achievement to be admitted to CNS Honors.
Jacob Van Geffen graduated in 2018 as a Dean's Honored Graduate in Computer Science with Honors, receiving a B.S. in Computer Science and a B.S. in Mathematics, with the Pure Mathematics option. A member of both Dean's and Turing Scholars, he was recognized for his achievements in research, academics and leadership. Today, he is on fellowship in the University of Washington's computer science graduate program.
Sana Saboowala graduated in 2018 as a Dean's Honored Graduate in Biology. She received an Honors B.S.A. in Biology, an Honors B.A. in Anthropology, and a Bioarchaeology in Museums Certificate through the Polymathic Scholars Honors program. Sana was recognized for her excellence in research and her thesis, "Ankh-Hap: A Case Study on the Display of Egyptian Mummies in America."
Wesley Godfrey graduated in 2018 as a Dean's Honored Graduate in Biology. He was recognized for his excellence in research and his thesis, "Myeloid Cells Support Murine T-ALL Growth In Vivo." Today he is enrolled in the M.D./Ph.D. program at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, with full funding awarded through the NIH's Medical Scientist Training Program.
Dear CNS Honors Parents:
When the Dean's Scholars program was created in 1983, the 5,900 undergraduates in the College of Natural Sciences accounted for 16% of the 37,000 at the University of Texas. Today, the college's 10,700 undergraduates make up 26% of the university's 40,800.
Dear Parents:
I am pleased to reflect on another great year for the Dean's Scholars Honors Program. We have continued many of the DS traditions that generations of Dean's Scholars have enjoyed, as well as broken new ground. Each Friday, we continue to meet with leading UT scholars to eat lunch and discuss exciting research. DSers also meet to discuss their own research at RESULTS, and also for regular DS outings, game nights, sports events, high-school tutoring, and other activities.
Dear Parents:
Polymathic Scholars (PS) are the newest members of the College of Natural Sciences honors programs. I'm grateful for the experience of being the associated Faculty Director, and also for having the opportunity to introduce the program to you in general, along with some recent news.
Dear Parents:
Health Science Scholars is old enough now to have three years of alumni who have graduated from UT-Austin! As the second-oldest college-wide honors program in the College of Natural Sciences, HSS was founded to provide a unique niche for highly accomplished and motivated students who are interested in health careers and who are dedicated to community service.
