First-year interest groups (FIGs) are one of the simplest and most comprehensive ways that the university provides first-year students with a small community of friends, colleagues and mentors to help them adjust to campus life.
Natural Sciences FIGs
It's a great way to forge a link between your academic and social experiences. Students in FIGs take between 2-4 classes in the fall semester together with a "cohort" of no more than 25 other first-years, all of whom have similar academic interests. Some other benefits of being in a FIG are:
- Easy to form study groups.
- Regular contact with peer mentors and an advisor from Natural Sciences.
- Begin your path to fulfilling degree requirements and graduating in four years.
All CNS first-year students are placed into some type of small learning community. If you are placed into a FIG, you will receive your FIG information when you come to Orientation.
