The University of Texas at Austin's public-facing programs on campus and at museums, schools and science centers are currently suspended to help slow the spread of the coronavirus, the agent causing the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the College of Natural Sciences, programs closed to the public include The Texas Memorial Museum, The Marine Science Institute in Port Aransas and the Frank N. Bash Visitors Center in Fort Davis at the McDonald Observatory.
Programs that bring people to campus for tours and programming, such as public events through UT Brainstorms and Science Under the Stars, also are suspended.
Spring often attracts visitors to sites on the main campus, as well as at the Marine Science Institute and the McDonald Observatory.
A release from the McDonald Observatory announced that programs are closed through at least April 19th. Visitors who have booked tickets to public programs during the period of closure will receive full refunds, and the observatory will contact ticket holders via e-mail with further information.
