CNS offers professional development activities throughout the year (long semesters and summers) focusing on three main areas. Check the Events Calendar for information about upcoming events.

Exploring and Preparing for Non-Academic Careers

Topics may include: panel discussions with PhDs employed in a variety of careers; networking and recruiting activities; and workshops focused on job search strategies, resume and cover letter preparation, and interview advice.

Preparing for Academic Careers

Topics may include preparing for the academic job market, and writing research and teaching statements.

Applying for Grants

Topics may include the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSF GRFP), the NIH National Research Service Awards (NIH NRSA), and the NIH Pathway to Independence Awards (K99/R00).
