Texas Science Book Club: The Sentient Machine by Amir Husain

We’re excited to announce that our May Texas Science Book Club meeting will feature alumnus Amir Husain (B.S. Computer Science, ’98) and his book The Sentient Machine: The Coming Age of Artificial Intelligence.
 
Amir is a globally recognized thought leader in computing and founder and CEO of SparkCognition—an Austin-based AI platform company. The Sentient Machine explores how we can work together with sentient machines and artificial intelligence—and not only survive, but thrive.
 
Join us virtually on Wednesday, May 26 at 4pm CDT.  Amir will talk with us about his book and the future of AI. After his talk, we will open the discussion to questions from attendees.
 
Amir Husain is a serial entrepreneur, inventor, technologist and author based in Austin, Texas. He has been named Austin’s Top Technology Entrepreneur of the Year, listed as an Onalytica Top 100 Artificial Intelligence Influencer, and received the Austin Under 40 Technology and Science Award, among several other accolades recognizing his work in artificial intelligence. Amir serves on the Board of Advisors for The University of Texas at Austin Department of Computer Science and on the NATO Maritime Unmanned Systems Innovation Advisory Board. He is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. In 2013, Amir incorporated SparkCognition, an artificial intelligence company, where he has served as the Founder and CEO since its inception.
