Dear Students,
By this time in the semester, many of you are fully immersed in your coursework, with readings to complete, exams to prepare for, and papers to write. If these things are using up all your mental energy right now, no worries—skip to the joke below and read the rest of this message when you're up for it.
If you're still reading, then take a few minutes to think about your life after UT. It's never too early—or too late—to start thinking about careers. If you haven't decided on a career path yet, don't worry. You are not alone, and there are many resources here at UT to help you find a path that is right for you. For example:
- Thinking about scientific research? Find opportunities to get involved in research on Eureka, or check out small-group consulting sessions for CNS students from TIDES especially for any of you who want to get involved in research. These sessions will introduce you to options available this fall and beyond and highlight next steps you can take. Sign up for a session here.
- Thinking about graduate school? CNS Career Services is offering a graduate school application workshop tonight (Wednesday, September 29th) at 5 p.m. (RSVP here) and a STEM Ph.D. graduate school admission panel on October 5 at 5 p.m. (details here).
- Interested in entrepreneurship? In our Inventors Program, students of all backgrounds and experiences tackle impactful, real-life challenges. On Tuesday, October 12 at 5 p.m., TIDES is hosting a virtual Inventors Program Mixer where you will hear more about the program, and have the opportunity to meet and speak with faculty and industry experts who will be teaching next spring's Inventors Program courses, which focus on solving real problems in Health & Medicine, Policy for STEM, Cybersecurity, and Military & Defense.
