A special lecture and a snapshot of some of the research pertaining to advances in computer chip technology acknowledge this month's 50th anniversary of Moore's Law.
The anniversary has already provided us a chance to highlight some of the work of UT Austin researchers to address the so-called "dark side" of this observation, which relates to exponential advances in computing technology.
This afternoon, the Department of Computer Sciences will host a lecture by Turing Award Recipient Chuck Thacker, discussing "Computing After Moore's Law." The lecture, in POB 2.302 at 1:30 p.m., is open to the public.
