Guiding You On Your Path

Guiding You On Your Path

Dear Students,

Are you pursuing a career in the health professions? Did you know that the College of Natural Sciences houses The Health Professions Office (HPO), which has peer advisors and coaches who are here to guide you on your path to professional school? If you're thinking of a career in medicine, dentistry, optometry, occupational therapy or another health profession, I encourage you to check out HPO.

Here are a few ways they can assist you:

  • Peer Advisors are available to meet with you to discuss shadowing, volunteering, club involvement and more. Peer advisors can answer many of your questions about health professions and the pathways into them. Schedule an appointment via Handshake.
  • Health Professions Coaches are available to discuss more specific aspects of your journey, such as courses that serve as pre-requisites, application timelines, brainstorming for personal statements and interview prep. You can make 2 appointments per academic year with the coaches. Schedule an appointment via Handshake.
  • Health Professions Coaches also conduct Virtual 'Walk-In Wednesday' Advising sessions to help with any quick questions you may have (these walk-in appointments do not count towards your 2 Coaches appointments). Walk-In Wednesdays are from 10:00am-12:00pm (but you must arrive by 11:45).
  • To stay in touch with HPO and hear about events and other announcements, subscribe to their email list or their Instagram.
There's less than one week to go until Thanksgiving break. Keep up the good work, and soon we'll be in the home stretch.
Best,
Dr. Drew
P.S. Don't forget to come out to the Vaccination Celebration TONIGHT on the Main Mall from 4-6:30pm, with free food, music from Nané, and more!
