Future You

Future You

Dear Students,

I don't know about you, but early April seems to be the time for me that things really heat up (stress rises, more things to do than time to do them, etc.). I can feel it continuing to build as we approach the beginning of May when it will inevitably all hit the fan. I'm guessing many of you can relate.

This year I'm going to try to be proactive, and I invite you to join me. I'm going to plan for the future by assessing what I can do now. Here are a few things I thought of:

  • Download a mindfulness app, like UT's Thrive or Headspace, and start my habit of listening to it every day.
  • Create slips of paper with sayings of encouragement that I can draw from when needed.
  • Block my calendar for the next few weeks so I remember to eat, sleep, and get outside to see sunshine.
  • Create a to-do list that breaks large projects down into more meaningful steps.

Take 15 minutes to help Future You. Mitigating even a little stress can make a big impact as the end of the semester approaches.

Best,
Dr. Vanden Bout

Joke: A neutron goes into a bar and asks the bartender, "How much for a beer?" The bartender replies, "For you, no charge."
