UTeach is a secondary STEM teacher preparation program at The University of Texas at Austin. UTeach integrates a rigorous math or science major and teacher certification within a four-year program.

UTeach gets students into the classroom right from the beginning. It gives them the support of dedicated and experienced master teachers and prepares them to teach effective, inquiry-based lessons.

And UTeach is flexible—students can start at any point during their college career, or even after they already have a degree.

Students can sign up for the one-hour entry course, Step 1: Inquiry Approaches to Teaching, and receive a partial tuition rebate.

National UTeach Programs

UTeach has proven so successful that the program is being replicated at 43 other universities across the nation. Seven other Texas universities have UTeach programs, and Texas UTeach graduates will teach more than 2.5 million science and math students by 2020. Across the U.S., an estimated 8,000 students will graduate from UTeach programs across the country and teach nearly 5 million secondary STEM students by 2020.
