Forensic Science Certificate
The Forensic Science Certificate provides an interdisciplinary perspective for students interested in careers in forensic science and is open to all undergraduate students at UT Austin.
Students interested in seeking employment in forensic science laboratories upon graduation are encouraged to select biology and chemistry courses.
The certificate requires the completion of 18 hours of approved coursework. The field of forensic science offers a wide range of specialization areas.
You can learn more about those and resources in our FAQ's section.
Please note that some of these courses may require introductory biology and chemistry courses as prerequisites. You can refer to the menu to the left to review requirements, policies and procedures for the certificate.
Requirements and procedures for the Forensic Science Certificate program will be based on the catalog under which a student is pursuing their degree, so please select accordingly.
If you are pursing your degree under an earlier catalog than 2014-2016, you would follow the requirements under the 2014-2016 catalog since the certificate program did not exist prior to fall 2014.
