This Week's Messenger:
Dr. Ruth Franks
Dear Students,
First a special message for our graduating seniors: Congratulations to the CNS Class of 2021! Every year, we ask graduating seniors to report their plans after graduation and share their experiences while in CNS using the College of Natural Sciences Graduation Survey. This year, it has special significance. You and your classmates are in extraordinary circumstances. Be proud of what you have accomplished! And if you need help planning your next step, see below in our "Student Career Community" section for Career Services resources.
Not graduating this semester? Keep building your resume! It is never too soon to start thinking about your next steps, including exploring different career interests and professional opportunities. Get started by exploring helpful resources on our website, updating your resume (did you know you can include class projects?), finding an internship or on-campus job. As a CNS student or grad, you can:
- Schedule an appointment with a career coach: Meet virtually to discuss any variety of career topics: resume and cover letter reviews, how to find jobs and internships, interview prep, graduate school planning and offer letter evaluation. Schedule an appointment by logging in to your Handshake account.
- Have an online resume review: Get your resume ready for any application by submitting it to our online resume review service! Simply email your resume (Word doc or Google doc) to cnscareerpeers@austin.utexas.edu to have it reviewed by a career coach. Comments and revisions will be sent back to you within 3 business days.
- Follow up on interest in the health professions: The Health Professions Office offers support exploring and preparing for applications to many types of health professions schools. Make an appointment today!
Sincerely,
Ruth Franks
