Weathering the Storm Together

Weathering the Storm Together

Dear Students,

I want to take a minute to talk about a couple of things on the horizon, both of which are important but vary exponentially in impact.

First, advising and registration for the summer and fall are coming up fast. As always, your academic advisors are here to help you plan, especially given the move to online courses for the summer.

More pressing, as a University, nation, and world, we're not sure what the future holds with regard to COVID-19. Already the lives of our students differ widely: many are able to stay at home and focus primarily on being students, while others are caring for sick relatives, finding additional jobs to support their families, or acting as homeschool teachers for their siblings – all this in addition to being CNS students. We will all be dealing with these changes for the remainder of the semester and beyond. And this is only going to intensify as people we know and love contract this virus.

How we can support you may look different in our new remote world, but know that we're all here working to make sure you can balance being a student with the demands life puts on you. The best way for us to do that is to reach out and let us know. Our non-academic advisors can help, your academic advisors can help, other staff or faculty members you've connected with can help, andI am always here.

We've weathered storms before, though none quite like this, so let's stick together to make it a little more manageable.

Best,
Dr. Vanden Bout
