Dr. Wann Langston, former director of the Vertebrate Paleontology Laboratory, stands next to the Onion Creek Mosasaur, a specimen collected from Onion Creek, just southeast of Austin, in 1934. “Mo,” as the mosasaur is sometimes called, now hangs from the ceiling in the Texas Memorial Museum's Hall of Geology and Paleontology, displayed as if it were swimming through the shallow sea that once covered much of Texas over 65 million years ago.
