Kevin Luecke is the 2012-13 Student Employee of the Year.
February 27, 2013, started out as an ordinary day for Kevin Luecke, a senior astronomy and computer science major in the College of Natural Sciences. He got up, headed to campus and went into work as a mentor in the white dwarf "research stream" in the Freshman Research Initiative, as usual. But just as he was getting comfortable, he was met with balloons and congratulations: Kevin Luecke is the 2012-13 Student Employee of the Year.
The award recognizes student employees who excel in reliability, quality of work, initiative, professionalism and uniqueness in their contribution to the university. Luecke, who was selected from a field of 73 nominees, is an undergraduate research assistant in the Department of Astronomy and at the McDonald Observatory.
The award is presented as part of National Student Employee Appreciation Week activities, sponsored through a partnership between the Division of Student Affairs and Human Resource Services.
