The Superlative Light: The Petawatt Laser as Art Object

Photographer Robert Shults looks for the sublime in his images of the Texas Petawatt Laser.

This spring Austin-based fine art photographer Robert Shults visited the Texas Petawatt Laser, one of the most powerful lasers in the world. He wanted to capture "an observer's awe-struck perception of a seemingly sacred space where a brilliant but mortal group of men and women perform work normally reserved for the gods."
