Recognize someone

Recognize someone

Dear Students,

Don't read into the fact that this email didn't make it out until Tuesday that it is not important. If anything, it is even more important. As Thanksgiving is approaching, now is the time to think about taking time out to recognize someone who has helped you during your time in CNS. There are two great opportunities to do this.

First, is there a faculty member who you think is simply amazing? If so, nominate this person for the Jean Holloway Award for Excellence in Teaching. This award recognizes one faculty member each year from the College of Natural Sciences or the College of Liberal Arts who demonstrates a warm spirit, a concern for society and the individual, and the ability to impart knowledge while challenging students to independent inquiry and creative thought.

Second, is there an advisor who has helped guide you through your time in college? Nominate that individual for the James W. Vick Award for Academic Advising. Inspired by UT professor and former Vice President of Student Affairs Jim Vick, these awards recognize individuals who improve undergraduate students' overall experience at the University of Texas at Austin through outstanding academic advising.

Both of these awards are student-nominated and student-selected. So take the time today to recognized an individual who has help transform your time at UT.

Best,
Dr. Vanden Bout
