Dear Students,
I don't know about you, but I often have the greatest intentions to make a plan for the future. The next thing I know, time seems to catch up with me. Before I know it, I have not only missed the chance to execute my plan, I haven't even found the time to make it. To get out of this rut I have tried to be very intentional about setting aside time for organizing my thoughts and making plans. So this week, I encourage you to set time aside each day to make a plan, and take stock of your progress. I've found that setting aside even 20 minutes can help relieve stress and make my time more productive than ever.
In that spirit here are a few items to help get you started:
- Advisors are already seeing students to talk about summer and fall courses… and beyond. Before you know it, registration will be here (April 16th – 27th).
- If you're planning to graduate, don't forget to fill out the Graduation Application.
- Also on the horizon is the April 2nd deadline for Q-drops and pass/fail. Start taking stock of how you did on your first couple of tests.
- The Health Professions Fair is this week on Wednesday, 2/28/18. If you're even thinking about a career in the health professions field, I highly recommend checking it out.
- Apply for scholarships.
- Find some funding for your research.
- CNS Connections is this week on Tuesday, 2/27/18. Come network with a diverse set of companies across Austin.
Find a little time each day to think about bigger-picture ideas so you can not only make a plan but start to put it into motion.
Best,
Dr. Vanden Bout
