Let’s Make a Playlist

Let’s Make a Playlist

Dear Students,

I had a thought: what if we work together to create a list of inspiring songs that can help us all

At the annual CNS Aspire Awards Banquet this year, Dr. Toyin Falola, an alum and former Dean's Scholar and TIP Mentor, spoke to the audience about her continued negotiation with a phenomenon called Imposter Syndrome. Many of you have heard of this, and most of you have dealt with it: the feeling that you're not smart enough to be where you are, it was a fluke that you made it into the college, programs or jobs that you did, or that someone is going to discover you as a phony in any number of situations.

Most of the time it's really difficult to get out of the headspace of feeling like you don't belong. One of the ways I get out of my unhelpful thoughts is to listen to music that inspires me. I thought for sure the internet could help me out with a playlist of Imposter-Syndrome-fighting songs that are inspiring, but somehow it doesn't seem to exist, so let's create one.

Here is a start on a list from CNS staff and me, but it's incomplete! Add to the conversation, by

Once we have a good list I'll create a Spotify playlist and share it with you all – but I need your help to select the songs!

Best,
Dr. Vanden Bout

P.S. Don't forget to fill out the CNS Annual Student Survey. Drawing for the $50 gift cards will be done on Friday, April 12th. If we hit 7,000 student responses, an extra ten $50 gift cards will be added to the pool. Help us reach this goal!
