Dean David Vanden Bout sent messages to staff and supervisors about annual performance appraisals happening in Workday this year and with the opportunity to take a survey on flexible work arrangements. Staff and supervisors can find the links in their emails.
During my State of the College address earlier this month, I talked about the vital role of our community of staff to the success of everything we aim to do. Continuing flexible work arrangements, offering dedicated leadership development opportunities and finding other ways to support hard-working staff members are among the priorities I discussed.
I want to mention two areas for attention this spring.
First, we are entering into our annual performance appraisal conversations, and it's important to carve time out to discuss the value of staff contributions, reflect on accomplishments from the last 12 months, set goals and provide feedback about areas for growth. UT offers helpful resources for supervisors preparing annual performance appraisal discussions and has dedicated professionals to help with navigating this process. Supervisors: please keep an eye out for a message from human resources director Maureen Hahn with new guidance about using Workday in your annual performance appraisal process this year.
Secondly, I want to invite your input about how things are going in your unit with flexible work arrangements (FWAs). All supervisors and all staff are receiving a survey from the college to share their thoughts about FWAs. Your participation by the end of this month will help us plan ahead of a new academic year.
Thank you for your dedication to the College of Natural Sciences.
