Entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurship

Dear Students,

"Every time you state what you want or believe, you're the first to hear it. It's a message to both you and others about what you think is possible. Don't put a ceiling on yourself."—Oprah Winfrey

Entrepreneurs are essential to progress—the ability to see potential and make it a reality drives everything from creation of job opportunities to promoting research and development to social change. While many people think of entrepreneurship as the ability to develop and manage a business, I prefer to think of it in terms of the ability to recognize the potential in an idea and organize people and resources to bring it to fruition. This broader definition includes entrepreneurs who are driving social change, advancing research, as well as those who are starting up new businesses.

This spring CNS will recognize graduating seniors who distinguished themselves in the area of entrepreneurship during their time at UT. Keep your eyes peeled for a call for nominations in early spring.

Have a great idea but not sure how to get it off the ground? CNS has an Inventors Program to help bring science ideas to life. In fact, there's a course you can take in the spring: Inventors Program Practicum (NSC 323).

Best,
Dr. Vanden Bout
