Dear Students,
I hope you had a good Labor Day weekend. Rest assured, for both faculty and students alike it is a welcome break to have a little down time early in the semester to regroup, take stock of all we have to do, and have a little unstructured time. Remember that Sept 9 is the 12th class day, the last day to drop a class without taking a Q.

Meet Associate Dean Skip Porter
The newest member of the College of Natural Sciences Dean's office is Dr. Skip Porter, who is the Associate Dean for Innovation and Science Enterprise. Dr. Porter's role will be to create courses, organization and collaborations that help students be competitive in the knowledge-based world. Building on the College's Freshman Research Initiative model, he will be creating programs to allow students to take ideas and discoveries in the sciences and develop their own inventions and ideas. Stay tuned for forthcoming lecture and course announcements!
Natural Sciences Career Expo
On Monday, September 19, the College of Natural Sciences will hold its Fall Career Expo from 1-6pm at the Frank Erwin Center. More than 100 companies will be in attendance to offer UT students full-time, part-time and internship opportunities. Visit for more details and to view the full list of employers planning to attend. Don’t forget! Business casual attire and your UT AUSTIN ID are required for entry. Remember, your attire and your professional demeanor represent you, so dress for success.
