Chemistry Educator Receives Dads' Association Centennial Teaching Fellowship

Fatima Fakhreddine of the College of Natural Sciences at The University of Texas at Austin has been chosen to hold an endowed Dads' Association Centennial Teaching Fellowship for 2016-2017. The fellowship recognizes excellence and commitment in the teaching of undergraduates.

​Fakhreddine, a senior lecturer in the Department of Chemistry and instructor in the University Extension Division of Continuing Education, has been recognized many times in the past for her teaching excellence. Previous awards include the Texas Exes Teaching Award, Regents' Outstanding Teaching Award, Henze Teaching Excellence Award and Welch Teaching Award. 

Three other faculty members at UT Austin were also chosen to receive Centennial Teaching Fellowships, which come with a $4,000 honorarium. They are: Brad Love from the Moody College of Communication, Angela Nonaka from the Department of Anthropology and the School of Social Work and Ann Repp from the Department of Psychology.

The Dads' Association Centennial Teaching Fellowships were established in 1983 by The University of Texas System Board of Regents using funds raised by the UT Austin Dads' Association and matching funds under the Centennial Teachers and Scholars Program. Appointees are nominated by the deans of their college or school and must be actively engaged in teaching freshman undergraduates.
