Behind the doors at the Brackenridge Field Lab is some people’s worst nightmare. Behind the doors at the Brackenridge Field Lab is some people’s worst nightmare. Giant black scorpions, hairy tarantulas, roaches, and insects that make that creepy, clicking sound, as crawl across the floor.

“This is called an Emperor scorpion. It’s got a really big stinger on it,” explained Dr. John Abbott, who runs the insect lab at the UT-Austin’s Breckenridge Field Lab.
