Jim Allison and Livia Eberlin. Texas Science Festival. Science for a changing world.

Texas is home to one of the nation’s most ambitious efforts to fight cancer, and leading breakthroughs in cancer research are the result.

Hear from two amazing scientists whose work, funded in part by the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas, will save countless lives.

Featuring:

  • Dr. James Allison, a Nobel Laureate and UT alum who led the immunotherapy revolution. His current work seeks to improve immune checkpoint blockade therapies used by clinicians and identify new targets to unleash the immune system to eradicate cancer.
  • Dr. Livia Schiavinato Eberlin, a UT faculty member who invented the MasSpec Pen, a game changer for the detection and removal of cancer during surgery. Her research centers around the development and application of novel mass spectrometry technologies, with a focus on disease detection to improve patient care and clinical outcomes.
