Cross-Cutting Conversation:
The Power of Faculty Beliefs and Practices to Shape Student Engagement During and After the COVID-19 Era
Tuesday, September 22, 2020
4:30 p.m.

What can faculty do to create inclusion and engagement while our students learn at a distance? Join us for a special evening, hosted by Natural Sciences and Liberal Arts, especially for UT faculty and staff to explore the science of student motivation, inclusion, and engagement. Find out how faculty practices have the power to shape students’ beliefs about their belonging, abilities and purpose. These practices can make the difference between a student who drops out or who persists, and between students focusing on just getting a grade versus deeper learning. Come learn about a new research-practice partnership at UT in which STEM faculty will play a central part.

Speakers include Stanford University’s Carol Dweck, Indiana University’s Mary Murphy (a UT Alum) and UT Austin’s David Yeager.
