Science Communication Workshop, Pitching Your Project: How to Communicate Your Research to Any Audience
Tuesday, October 17, 2017, 12:00pm - 01:30pm
Contact Po-Tsan Ku, po-tsan.ku@austin.utexas.edu

Scientists know how to talk about their research with fellow scientists, but the most successful also are able to connect with potential supporters outside of their field. You will leave this interactive, fun session with a refined delivery of your research topic, having learned how to connect with your audience, deliver information effectively (including when you are on the spot and under pressure), reduce jargon, use story-telling techniques, and communicate your research so it sticks with your audience. You’ll also have a chance to present a portion of your talk, receive direct feedback from coaches and peers, and try it again with new input.

Interested students will be asked to RSVP with their intention to attend. (Watch the cns-gradstudents or cns-postdocs email lists for the RSVP link.)

Please note the expanded time frame for this workshop.

Pizza and drinks will be served, as usual.

Location: NHB 1.720
