Science Under the Stars: Plants on Fire!
Thursday, June 09, 2016, 08:00pm - 09:00pm

Emily Marie Booth (Plant Biology Graduate Program)

"Plants on Fire!"

"Is wildland fire friend or foe? Can we control it—and should we try to, every time? What do the plants have to say about it? Come to the next SUTS to find out how fire affects plant communities (and some animals!), and how we can use fire as a tool to maintain ecosystems."

Science Under the Stars is a free, monthly public outreach lecture series founded and organized by graduate students in the Department of Integrative Biology at The University of Texas at Austin. Events are held at 8:00pm outdoors at Brackenridge Field Laboratory, 2907 Lake Austin Blvd, Austin, Texas 78703. In the case of inclement weather, lectures are held indoors. Arrive early for refreshments and fun activities for kids of all ages! Guided tours of the field lab are available (wear sturdy shoes and bring water)!
