Texas Exes Lunchtime Lecture: A Commercialized Cure for Anthrax

Lunchtime Lectures is a new series of events by the Texas Exes intended to give alumni a taste of their college days. The faculty lectures are winners of the Alcalde Magazine's Texas 10, a list of inspirational teachers as nominated by alumni. Lunches are $25 for members or $35 for nonmembers, and lunch is provided.

The anthrax mail attacks in October of 2001 killed 6 people and caused widespread concern in the US.  A cure for late stage anthrax was developed at UT Austin and has now been acquired as part of the US Strategic National Stockpile of countermeasures against a potential bioterrorist attack
