Professional Development Seminar - Women in STEM Panel

With panelists from Natural Sciences, Engineering, and Social Sciences, this panel provides a unique forum for both women in STEM and those who research women in STEM. The goal is to expore the reasons for the continued under-represenation of women in some STEM fields and to empower women in different stages of their STEM careers, from undergraduates to junior researchers and senior faculty.

This event will also be the November grad student/postdoc professional development seminar.

The Department of Astronomy's AWARE group (Association of Women in Astronomy Research and Education) and the CNS Women in Natural Sciences group are hosting the Women in STEM panel discussion. A panel of UT Austin faculty members and researchers will present and discuss research about success for women in STEM. Panelists will include:

  • Linda Reichl, Professor of Physics and Co-Director of the Center for Complex Quantum Systems
  • Catherine Riegle Crumb, Associate Professor of Curriculum and Instruction (STEM Education)
  • Rebecca Bigler, Professor of Psychology and Women's and Gender Studies
  • Jennifer Glass, Professor of Sociology; Barbara Pierce Bush Regents Professor in Liberal Arts
  • Tricia Berry, Director of the Women in Engineering Program (Cockrell School of Engineering)
