Physics Department Open House

Come interact with physics faculty and students as the Department of Physics opens its doors.

Texas Petawatt LaserFind out about the following topics in lectures and lab tours:
•    Petawatt Laser (more power than all the world’s power plants) produces conditions like that inside stars
•    Biophysics – microscope for imaging highways within cell
•    Materials Science – atomic microscopes reveal bizarre quantum physics phenomena
•    Ultra-­Cold Atoms – quantum simulation
•    Higgs Boson – the latest elementary particle to be discovered
•    Dark Matter – the elusive secret of the universe, and how we look for it

Activities:
•    Poster Session, 2-­4 pm, 4th floor (entrance level) lobby
•    Laboratory Tours/Talks 2-­5 pm
•    Snacks on floors 2, 3, 9, 10, 13, & 14
•    Watermelon Drop off RLM roof at 5:15 pm
