Bio: Spiros Liras is Vice President, WorldWide Medicinal Chemistry at Pfizer. He is the head of Cardiovascular, Metabolic and Endocrine diseases medicinal chemistry, a position he has held since 2008. Prior to this appointment, Dr. Liras was Senior Director of Neuroscience medicinal chemistry where he worked in the areas of addiction, schizophrenia and neurodegenerative disorders. Dr. Liras joined Pfizer in 1994 after a postdoctoral appointment in organic synthesis at the University of Texas at Austin under the direction of Professor Stephen Martin.
