The orange/red bubbles are regions of hot gas that the first stars created when they ignited. The green streaks are cold cosmic gas that has begun to collapse into dark matter but has not yet formed stars. The structure in the center is destined to become one of the first galaxies with the next hundred million years or so. We’re looking for images that celebrate the extraordinary beauty of science and the scientific process. In essence, we want images that embody the moment where science and art collide.

The six top images will be displayed during a reception in the fall and will be hung in a prominent place on campus. These and other select images will be featured on the college's website and will be considered for use in print, video, and other areas of communication. Images can include visualizations, photographs, microscope images, fractals, patterns, mathematical equations, and so on. You can see example images from last year’s campaign here. Your images can help us tell stories about the great scientific work that is happening in the College of Natural Sciences.

WIN MONEY! We have a new development for this year’s campaign - the top three images will receive monetary awards! First place will receive $1000, second place will be awarded $500, and $250 will go to third place.

Submit your scientific and mathematical images TODAY!
