ATTENTION ALL CNS STUDENTS! Get excited, Natural Sciences Week is October 14th-18th this year. We've got a great lineup of events. Please come out to everything and anything that interests you! 

There will be FREE food, t-shirts, and much more at EVERY EVENT!

Monday 10/14

The Big Bang! Featuring CNS Orgs 
5-7pm; East Mall 

Description: The Big Bang will be held on October 14th from 5-7pm in WELCH 2nd Floor Hallway. The Big Bang is the kickoff to Natural Sciences Week. Join us as we celebrate the great things the College of Natural Sciences has to offer, from the dozens of student organizations that will be tabling, to a special show put on by our own Chemistry Circus. FREE PIZZA AND T-SHIRTS WILL BE PROVIDED!

Tuesday 10/15

Software for Scientists Featuring Dr. Tandy Warnow
2-3:30pm; POB 2.302 (in ACES)
Description: As a student in the 21st century, you are bound to use computing skills for your research, work or everyday essentials. Interact with Dr. Tandy Warnow from the Department of Computer Science and learn about the role computing plays across all sciences. Come for the donuts, stay for the discussion!

Making the Most of Your Break
6-7:30pm; PAI 2.48
Description: Learn about the vast assortment of opportunities available during winter, spring and summer breaks, including service and study abroad, MCAT preparation, job shadowing and research internships. FREE FOOD will be provided!

So What is the BSA? Featuring Dr. Sacha Kopp

Description: Come learn more about the newest degree plan in the College of Natural Sciences, the BSA degree! Join Associate Dean, Sacha Kopp, as well as other key faculty members, to discover whether the BSA degree plan is right for you! In addition draft your own BSA degree plan with first year advisors! 

Star Party Featuring Dr. Steven Finkelstein 
7-9pm; RLM 4.202 & RLM Rooftop Telescope 
Description: Come out and join Natural Sciences Council, the Society of Physics Students, and the Astronomy Student's Association for the annual Natural Sciences Week Star Party! Enjoy a talk by Dr. Finkelstein, a distinguished member of the astronomy department, followed by stargazing on the roof of the RLM. FREE Food and liquid nitrogen ice cream will be served!

Thursday 10/17

A Deeper Look Inside Chemistry, Neuroscience, and Computer Sciences
11am-3pm; WEL, NHB, and GDC Labs
Description: The Chemistry, Neuroscience, and Computer Sciences departments will be hosting the very first open house featuring select labs within each department. Get a glimpse of the cutting edge research that is taking place in each of these departments and get a chance to interact with the graduate students and faculty in each lab.

What To Do With Your Degree
5-7pm; Welch Courtyard
Description: This is your opportunity to network with a wide array of professionals who have utilized their science degree in innovative ways. Our guests include: Intel, a Forensic Scientist, a Genetic Counselor, a Public Health Policy Worker and so many more! FREE Polka Dots cupcakes and T-shirts!

Description: Enjoy a FREE LUNCH and discussion on self-actualization in the college years led by our very own chemistry professor and Senior Vice-Provost Dr. David Laude. Sponsored by Dean's Scholars.

SURGe presents Roads to Research 
3-5pm; Union 3.502
Description: Interested in research but don't know where to start? Receive advice from grad school programs and research-oriented companies on what to do now to prepare for a future in research. This will be followed by a tabling session for you to browse and ask questions from different recruiting companies and UT offices. Light refreshments will be provided, as well as awesome door prizes and many more!
